More than 1.6 million Russians have transferred their mail from American Gmail to Russian Xmail in a year. A special service for transferring letters from mailboxes was developed by VK in August 2023.
When switching to a new domain, the email address will remain the same, but will end in xmail.ru. The new mail can be linked to an account on the Gosuslugi portal and other services.
In addition, there is a program that helps to send files from any storage through "Mail Cloud". For downloading, you can use the official application store in Russia, RuStore.
Earlier, Russians faced a problem when trying to create a new Gmail account: the system does not accept Russian phone numbers and gives an error. These profiles are necessary for the operation of Google services on devices running the Android operating system.
The reason for the blocking remains unknown, and Google has not yet commented on this situation. The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media claims that Google introduced restrictions on the creation of new accounts for Russians.
