On Monday, August 23, the unmanned cargo traffic was launched along the entire M-11 highway without a driver at the wheel at the "Digital Transportation-2024" forum.
Also at the forum, several routes were launched in electronic form as part of the creation of the National Digital Transport and Logistics Platform.
Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev noted that economic growth, the implementation of social projects, the development of business and the export potential of the state are impossible without a modern transport and logistics complex.
And you are making every effort to solve these problems. Today you have a good opportunity to develop joint approaches that meet global challenges in the field of transport. The "Digital Transportation" forum is a unique platform where experience and information, scientific achievements and successful practices are exchanged.
Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit emphasized that digitalization has become a powerful incentive for the economy as a whole, and the transport sector is no exception.
Four unmanned trucks without a driver were launched on the highway - two from KamAZ and two from Sberavtotech. The unmanned vehicles traveled over 3 million km without accidents in a year and a half, which allowed us to move on to the next stage - the driver can now take a passenger seat. The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation noted that by the end of the year the fleet will grow to 43 vehicles, and next year it will be 93 vehicles.
Unlike conventional trucks, unmanned vehicles are not limited in their work and rest schedule. This allows them to work without interruptions, which significantly speeds up delivery, minimizes downtime and optimizes logistics processes. As part of the project, cargo is transported by leading companies and retailers such as National Carrier, Globaltruck, PEC, X5, Magnit, Gazpromneft-Snabzhenie and Wildberries.
Unmanned trucks have been transporting cargo in experimental mode along the M-11 Neva highway since 2023. Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bakanov previously noted that by 2026 the geography of the experiment is planned to be expanded to the M-12 Vostok and TsKAD highways.
The II International Forum "Digital Transportation" is held in Moscow on September 23 and 24. The event is the only platform in the country where you can directly communicate with customers, contractors and representatives of the state in the field of digitalization of transport and logistics.
