The overhaul of the tanks will be carried out at the Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi

Indian authorities are planning to modernize 2,500 T-72 tanks manufactured under Soviet license. This is an important strategic step, as the geopolitical situation in the world is complex and the need for heavy military equipment is growing, Bulgarian Military writes.

Before being exported, the tanks will undergo modernization, which will allow countries in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia to take advantage of these combat vehicles.

The overhaul of the tanks will be carried out at the Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi. The T-72 was produced there until the 2000s, then the company started producing the T-90.

India can find buyers for its tanks from South Sudan to Venezuela, as these countries are interested in replenishing their fleets of heavy military equipment. However, Russia itself may purchase T-72 tanks.
