Accelerate Selection: Russia Creates Complex for Creating Digital Twins of Plants

The device scans a plant in 3.5 minutes and creates its 3D model

The Timiryazev Academy has developed a prototype hardware and software complex Trium Natura for creating digital twins of plants. This was reported by the press service of the university.

The device scans a plant in 3.5 minutes and creates its virtual twin with an accuracy of up to 40 micrometers (0.04 mm). The development will allow assessing seedlings for their breeding or cloning.

The system uses projection technology, which allows creating an ultra-precise 3D model of a plant, even if it is in a test tube.

First of all, our system is designed for selection and genetic research to select plants with the best parameters. We model seedlings that are grown in test tubes. This is now one of the most modern methods of agriculture, as it allows you to get an ideal model organism.
Stepan Valevich, student of the Timiryazev Academy

In the future, the developers plan to expand the capabilities of the system by adding a function for modeling plant development in various conditions, such as climate change or varying soil composition. This will allow predicting how plants will grow and bear fruit in various weather conditions. This will make it easier to select the most promising samples for breeding.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Perm scientists developed a greenhouse with artificial intelligence and robots.
