Helicentro Peru will soon complete the overhaul of four helicopters for the Peruvian Air Force, including the Russian Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-17-1B. Both rotorcraft will undergo ground and flight tests of TV3-117VMA engines. This was reported by Defensa.
According to Defensa, Helicentro Peru has received permission from the manufacturers to carry out major repairs and maintenance of Mi helicopters. The Peruvian company has the right to completely disassemble aircraft, check their operability and replace individual components, and restore their structure to ensure symmetry and balance.
Helicentro Peru has been servicing equipment since 2005. Over the past 6 years, the company has repaired more than 20 Russian-made helicopters. These included 7 Mi-17-1B helicopters for the Air Force and National Police of Peru.
About the Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter
The Mi-8MTV-1 is made according to the classic scheme with a five-bladed main rotor and a tail rotor. The rotorcraft is capable of carrying 4000 kg of cargo in the cabin or on an external sling. The crew is 2-3 people, the cruising speed is 225-230 km/h, the flight range is 500 km.
About the Mi-17-1V helicopter
The Mi-17-1V received two TV3-117BM gas turbine engines with a capacity of 1900 hp each and an AI-9V auxiliary power unit. The flight range is increased by installing additional fuel tanks. The helicopter is equipped with a VR-17 chassis with an anti-icing device. Cruising speed is 240 km/h. The flight range is 950 km.
