«Thor's Hammer» at the Forefront: Russian Armed Forces Receive New Effective Equipment

The armored wheeled platform can carry up to 1.2 tons of cargo on board

Specialists from Bauman Moscow State Technical University have completed the development of the «Thor» robotic wheeled armored platform. It weighs 5 tons and serves to deliver various special equipment, military equipment and weapons.

Robotic wheeled armored platform «Thor»

The vehicle has the fourth class of protection. The range is up to 200 km. It can carry up to 1.2 tons of cargo on board. It is armed with a combat module with a 12.7-millimeter machine gun. The «Thor» has an independent suspension and very high traction, each wheel can develop a force of 800–900 kg.

A range of 200 km is enough, considering that there are no deep breakthroughs now, when soldiers travel dozens of kilometers a day. The fact that they added protection is also good, because the platforms that our guys have now are often not armored. The only question is about cross-country ability.

Analyst Dmitry Kornev added that it is necessary to create robotic combat vehicles that could conduct operations to patrol the area, support infantry, and also attack along with tanks.

Earlier it became known that Russia had launched mass production of the «Vizir» surface drone. It is controlled by artificial intelligence, without the participation of an operator.
