The "Petrozavodskmash" plant (part of Rosatom's Mechanical Engineering Division) has started manufacturing housings for main circulation pump units (MCPUs). The production uses a new technology of anti-corrosion surfacing of the internal surface. It ensures the uniformity of the metal of the primary circuit equipment of nuclear power plants. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.
The manufacturing of the first spherical MCPU housing has already begun. During the production process, step-by-step control of the thickness of the anti-corrosion layer application is carried out. After the two-layer surfacing is completed, the sphere will be sent for further processing and assembly with other components of the MCPU housing.
To implement the technology, a special installation was used at the plant. It allows automatic application of a multi-layer cladding coating on the inner surface of the spherical blank. The equipment and materials for surfacing are made in Russia.
The use of anti-corrosion surfacing increases the reliability and safety of reactor plants.
