Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed concern about the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), warning of a possible apocalyptic future for humanity if it loses its religious and moral values. In his speech at the X St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, he emphasized that technological progress, including the development of AI, can be both a blessing and a threat.
The Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that AI has powerful computing capabilities and can lead to significant technological advances. However, in his opinion, without the moral and spiritual development of man, such technologies can become as dangerous as an atomic bomb. He believes that humanity should strive for spiritual and moral improvement in order not to be defeated by AI and other challenges.
The Patriarch emphasized that the development of man should go hand in hand with an increase in religious faith and moral consciousness in order to avoid catastrophic consequences. He warned that without faith and moral guidelines, humanity may find itself on the verge of an apocalypse.
According to Patriarch Kirill, the main task is to ensure that AI remains under human control and does not threaten its existence.
