Since the beginning of the year, 795.2 million tons of cargo have been shipped, which is 3.7% less than in the same period in 2023. In August, loading on railway networks amounted to 97.5. This figure is 6% less than last year's.
Despite the overall decline, the loading of fertilizers increased (+7.9% compared to January-August 2023), industrial raw materials (+6.6%), and coke (+5.1%). Grain remained at previous levels.
In August, the loading of iron ore decreased (-3.1%) and oil cargo (-1.1%).
It is worth noting that there is an increase in passenger traffic in August. It increased by 7.1% compared to the same period last year.
In the eight months of 2024, 844.4 million people used the services of Russian Railways, which is 7.7% more than in the same period last year. Of these, 756.5 million people (+7.9%) traveled on suburban trains, and 87.9 million (+5.8%) traveled on long-distance trains.
The number of passengers traveling on long-distance trains amounted to 14.5 million people, which is 0.8% more than a year ago. In suburban traffic, the number of passengers reached 100.4 million people (+8.1%).
