In the subways of two capitals, MegaFon customers will not pay for the Internet

MegaFon launches unlimited internet in the Moscow and St. Petersburg metro from September 1

From September 1, 2024, MegaFon subscribers will be able to use unlimited mobile Internet in the Moscow and St. Petersburg metro without using tariff data packages. To do this, they just need to be in the subway - Internet traffic will not be taken into account until they leave the subway. This innovation is especially relevant with the beginning of the business and academic season, when the number of passengers increases.

MegaFon notes a significant increase in traffic in the metro: in Moscow, the amount of data increased by 115%, and in St. Petersburg - by 48% since the beginning of the year. The main reasons are an increase in the number of tourists and an increase in user activity, who often use the Internet in the subway to watch videos, social networks and music.

To ensure stable Internet, MegaFon is modernizing equipment in the metro, using a single antenna-feeder system with a high-frequency radiating cable, which provides stable communication both in tunnels and at stations. In Moscow, the metro is continuing to expand, and MegaFon is actively building infrastructure at new stations so that users can immediately use the Internet after they open.
