This was made possible by VK expanding its CDN (Content Delivery Network) network infrastructure in all regions of Russia and several CIS countries. CDN ensures fast content delivery due to the fact that its nodes (servers and storage) are geographically located in such a way as to minimize the response time for users of web services and sites.
More than 150 CDN nodes with the company's cache servers now cover all federal districts of Russia, as well as the CIS countries. The CDN network provides users in Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus with access to content from the nearest node with cache servers, regardless of location. This increases the loading speed by an average of 20-30%.
As VK noted in a comment for RIA Novosti, the CDN network has been expanded by approximately 1.5 times due to the growth in the number of users, content creators, and VK Video traffic, which has grown by 30% since the beginning of 2024.
The company notes that the bandwidth of connections with telecom operators has doubled compared to 2023, and VK's network performance has increased and now has a speed of up to 40 Tbit/s. In these conditions, the network can withstand even an instantaneous doubling of the daily audience of services.
