Испугались санкций: основанный россиянином конструктор интернет-магазинов Ecwid уходит из РФ

The service, acquired by Canadian company Lightspeed, is curtailing operations in a major market

Ecwid, an online store builder created by Russian national Ruslan Fazlyev, is leaving the Russian market due to U.S. sanctions. The company has warned its clients about this.

Ecwid's administration stated that, starting September 9, users located in Russia will not be able to access the site's control panel.

It is difficult for us to share this news with you, especially considering Ecwid's origin story. Ecwid was created in Russia to help people sell online worldwide.

The service's administration expressed regret at losing its clients. On September 12, a ban on the supply of IT consulting, IT support, and cloud services to "any person in the Russian Federation" comes into effect in the U.S.

Ecwid was founded in Russia in 2009. In 2021, it was acquired by Canadian company Lightspeed. The deal amounted to $500 million.
