Dozens of Russian military personnel are being trained in Iran to use the Fath-360 short-range ballistic missile, Reuters reported, citing sources in European intelligence. Sources claim that they expect the imminent delivery of hundreds of missiles to Russia.
It is assumed that on December 13, 2023, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with the Iranian authorities for the supply of Fath-360 ballistic missiles and the Ababil missile system, intelligence sources say.
What is known about the Fath-360 missile:
- presented on Iran's Army Day in 2020
- range — 120 km
- warhead weight — 150 kg
- flight speed — 4M
The US National Security Council said that Washington and its G7 partners are "ready to give a swift and harsh response if Iran continues such deliveries." According to Reuters, the Russian Ministry of Defense did not respond to a request for comment regarding possible deliveries of Fath-360.
The Permanent Mission of Iran to the UN stated that Tehran and Moscow have established long-term strategic cooperation, including in the military-technical sphere. However, Iran refrains from transferring weapons to Russia, the organization added.
