Drones Attack Where "Fagot" ATGM and "Utyos" Machine Gun Can't Reach: What Tasks Are Assigned to UAV Platoons

UAV units provide assault groups with intelligence and fire support

UAV units are being actively formed in the Russian Armed Forces, operating in the interests of assault groups. Servicemen use reconnaissance drones to gather information about enemy positions, and also provide fire support with strike drones. This was stated by the UAV platoon commander with the call sign Kazakh.

The platoon's personnel have mastered various types of drones. With their help, operators began to strike at enemy positions that were out of reach for standard fire weapons such as the "Fagot" ATGM, SPG-9, AGS-17, NSV "Utyos".

According to him, the operator never works alone: there is a serviceman nearby who monitors the situation. Reconnaissance and strike groups launch "birds" from different positions, and change location after destroying the target.

The platoon also has specialists who can manufacture spare parts for UAVs, upload new programs to them, and repair the "bird". A serviceman with an engineering and sapper specialty is responsible for preparing combat charges for strike drones.

If the task is to destroy a house, then we use either a fragmentation or high-explosive fragmentation munition to inflict as much damage as possible on the enemy. If it is equipment, then we will use a cumulative charge.
