In 2024, Russians began to more actively use online drives for data storage, preferring Russian services. Yota analysts found that Internet traffic of Russian online drives increased by 32% compared to last year and exceeded the usage of foreign counterparts, the company's press service reports.
Yota analysts analyzed anonymized subscriber data. According to their data, total traffic consumption in the cloud storage segment increased by 28%. Russian services showed an increase of 32%, while foreign services - by 25%.
More than half of the traffic in this segment comes from Russian cloud storage. At the same time, among young people aged 14-20, 65% of traffic comes from foreign services.
In 2024, Yandex Disk became the most popular cloud storage (growth was 61%). In second place is Google Drive (+46%), in third place is iCloud (+19%). Mail.ru Cloud showed a decrease of 17%, and Microsoft OneDrive - by 32%.
