According to him, engineers at the Tula KBP were developing an experimental guided artillery projectile "Firn-1" for the M-46. It was expected that its range would be 24 km, and the range of subsequent modifications, if equipped with an acceleration unit with a bottom gas generator, would be up to 45 km.
