Some parts of the "Atom" electric car will be made in China. This was learned by journalists.
The platform, operating system, and driver assistance systems (ADAS) will be completely domestic in the car. The steering mechanism and control electronics will be purchased in China.
The head-up display on the windshield, which the creators of "Atom" emphasized, as well as the thermal control system for the traction battery, will be made in China. It is claimed that this will be done jointly with the Russian side.
One of the main parts of an electric car is the battery. And it will also be produced jointly with a Chinese partner. However, the battery itself is domestic — from the company "Rosatom."
It is worth noting that Ivan Solomin, Director of Brand, Marketing and External Communications at "Atom", called the electric car project Russian, and emphasized that the main difference between "Atom" and its competitors will be in the development of infrastructure. He explained that in the future this will allow the formation of electromobility throughout the country. Thus, earlier the company "Kama" (the developer of "Atom") began selling charging stations for home and business throughout the country.
Solomin also stated that "Atom" has great potential for participating in sports competitions, but the company has no plans to participate in races in such a car.
The electric car will be assembled at the Moskvich plant in 2025. The cost of "Atom" will exceed 3 million rubles. For comparison, the "Moskvich 3e" costs more than 3 million rubles at the time of writing.
