Russia Develops Explosive Barriers to Destroy Sea Drones

For the Russian Navy, a complex of active defense against unmanned boats (BEC) and underwater drones has been developed. This is a special underwater barrier with charges installed on it.

When sea drones approach, it is remotely detonated and destroys the enemy's strike systems. The barrier is detonated remotely, for example, from a coastal point located on the protected object.

Such a system can be manufactured quickly enough, noted military expert Dmitry Boltenkov.

The algorithm of action itself should be simple. Approaches to the protected water area should be controlled by sonars, radars, and visual observation points. Upon approach, they should send an alarm signal to the explosive barrier control center. After that, the operators only have to track the approach of the BEC or underwater drones, and then detonate at the right moment.

He noted that it is important to correctly calculate the power of the charges so that they do not damage their ships. From a technical point of view, the implementation of such a project does not present much difficulty.

Underwater explosions have a more powerful effect on objects at depth, and this includes not only drones, but also torpedoes. In the same way, you can destroy enemy saboteurs-underwater divers if they try to break through to our ships.
