Equipping Russian warships with a naval version of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) will provide them with reliable protection against all air attack weapons, as well as anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCMs) and drones. This was reported by experts for the National Defense magazine.
Equipping the combat and auxiliary ships in operation with the Tor-M2KM SAM system, and the ships under construction and undergoing overhaul with the naval version of the Tor-M2 SAM system, will ensure their reliable protection against ASCMs flying at extremely low altitudes, long- and medium-range cruise missiles, guided aerial bombs, anti-radar missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft and helicopters.
Experts noted that the Tor-M2 has become a reliable means of combating high-precision weapons in the tactical echelon in the Ground Forces. At the same time, the complex initially developed several solutions that will make it an effective interspecific air defense asset.
In particular, the complex implements a vertical launch of an anti-aircraft guided missile (SAM). This makes it possible to free the ship's deck from bulky launchers with inclined guides and ensure safety in marching conditions and a certain level of protection against combat damage.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian Armed Forces at the forefront crossed a "motolyga" and a 2M-3M naval anti-aircraft gun. The device is successfully used in hunting drones at close range.
