In 2023, Russia increased the production of air-to-surface Kh-101 cruise missiles eightfold, to 420 units, compared to 2021, when only 56 such missiles were produced. This was made possible by the colossal reserves of its resources. In addition, Russia has shown significant progress in replacing foreign components for microelectronics. This is according to Bulgarian Military.
According to the publication, titanium and aluminum are used in the production of Kh-101 missiles.
Russia is considered one of the world's leading producers of titanium. Huge reserves of titanium and advanced production capabilities put it on par with the leading players in the global market.
Bulgarian Military also pointed to Russia's colossal reserves of bauxite for the production of aluminum.
The strategic importance of titanium and aluminum production in Russia cannot be overstated. These materials are crucial for the creation of advanced military equipment, including submarines.
The availability of various resources allows Russia to produce high-performance, durable, and technologically advanced military systems and missiles, including the Kh-101.
