AvtoVAZ continues to improve car production. Changes have been made to the assembly process of LADA Vesta bodies on the main assembly line in Togliatti. Now, the probability of workers getting injured has significantly decreased.
Previously, two workers would take the roof panel by hand and place it on a special frame, from where the part was taken by a robot. The roof panel had sharp edges and it was possible to get cut. Now the part is moved using a special gripper. It is controlled by an operator. Four suction cups attach to the roof panel and lift it onto the frame, where the part is already waiting for the robot.
VAZ employees stated that they are implementing the principles of "kaizen" - continuous improvement of production processes - at the plant.
