JSC "Concern VKO "Almaz-Antey" and an unnamed Indian company are close to an agreement on the creation of a joint venture for the maintenance and repair of the S-400 "Triumph" anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) in India. It is expected that by 2028 it will also produce parts for the SAM system. This is according to an article about the new "defense alliance" between Russia and India for the Eurasian Times by military observer Shubhangi Palve.
The ability of the S-400 to limit enemy air operations is unmatched among Western systems. The Russian "Triumph" is considered the most dangerous modern long-range system in the world, surpassing the US-developed THAAD high-altitude defense system.
The expert noted that the S-400 exchanges data with other air defense systems. The SAM system can detect and track aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, guided missiles, drones and ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 600 km. The system simultaneously tracks up to 100 air targets.
For India, the deployment of these systems along its borders provides an unprecedented strategic advantage, effectively deterring potential adversaries.
India purchased 5 S-400 systems from Russia under an agreement signed in October 2018 for $5 billion. New Delhi decided to make this deal despite sanctions and warnings from the US authorities, Shubhangi Palve concluded.
