In late May, it became known that Aeroflot began developing software for pilots' tablets based on the domestic Aurora operating system.
However, civil aviation is not the only area in Russia that can use tablets on Aurora. In late March of this year, the online publication forbes.ru, citing its sources, reported that the Ministry of Digital Development is discussing a major purchase of equipment under the national project "Data Economy."
It is planned to purchase 1.1 million Aurora OS-based tablets for the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Ministry of Emergency Situations using budget funds. Devices will be purchased from several manufacturers over five years: from 2025 to 2030. Nearly 50 billion rubles will be allocated for the purchase of Aurora-based tablets for teachers and doctors, which includes the technical maintenance of the devices. No refutation of this information has been received.
The Ministry of Digital Development's plans for the total tabletization of doctors, teachers, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the police under this project were first revealed in late November 2023. At that time, according to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, it was planned to allocate about 67 billion rubles for these purposes.
Of this, 42 billion rubles were planned to be allocated for tablets for teachers, 20 billion rubles for tablets for doctors, and the remaining funds to be spent on the technical equipment of employees of other public sector structures. In total, it was initially planned to provide more than 6 million people with government devices with a domestic OS by 2030.
The Russian government has also already shown interest in Aurora as an OS for devices for civil servants. The Cabinet was considering the possibility of purchasing about two million devices with a domestic OS for civil servants.
