Russian military personnel have begun destroying naval unmanned surface vehicles (BEC) with fire from GSh-23 twin cannons mounted on a helicopter. This was reported by the Telegram channel @Warhistoryalconafter.
This weapon is excellent for destroying naval drones of the enemy. With a rate of fire of four thousand rounds per minute, the accuracy of fire is simply stunning. No boat can withstand such a barrage of shells.
The cannon is designed for firing from an aircraft at ground and air targets with high-explosive fragmentation, armor-piercing incendiary tracer rounds.
The basic version of the GSh-23 was adopted into service in the troops back in 1965. The twin-barreled automatic cannon uses 23 by 115 millimeter rounds. This weapon is used to arm various helicopters, including the Ka-29 and Mi-24.
Tactical and technical characteristics of the GSh-23:
- Length — 1387 mm
- Weight — 50.5 kg
- Number of barrels — 2
- Rate of fire — 3000–4000 rounds/min
- Ammunition load — 150–2500 rounds
- Firing range - 3000 m
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian military had begun using the universal module B05Ya01 "Berezhok" to destroy high-speed, low-observable BECs.
