"Barbecue" made of titanium for UAZ: "Kalashnikov" protected the SUV from FPV drones

Specialists of JSC "NII stali" and NAO "Metall Invest" sent a modernized UAZ to the Russian military

Specialists of JSC "NII stali" (part of the "Kalashnikov" concern), together with NAO "Metall Invest", sent a UAZ car equipped with anti-drone and anti-splinter protection to Russian military personnel. This was reported by the press service of the concern.

The car "barbecue" will protect the UAZ from FPV drones and from fragments when a shell or missile explodes. The press service of the concern explained that anti-drone nets have become a standard solution for many types of military equipment. However, anti-splinter protection on an SUV is a novelty.

The protection is made in the form of composite panels based on titanium and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). Combining these materials, the developers created a lightweight and durable structure for installation on the outer skin, hood and doors of the car.
