Танки Т-90М «Прорыв» и «летающий» Т-80БВМ могут получить многоцелевые тактические ракеты с головками самонаведения «Сокол-В»

The missiles operate on a "fire-and-forget" principle

Russian T-90M "Proryv" and T-80BVM tanks may receive advanced 125-millimeter tank multi-purpose tactical missiles with multispectral optoelectronic self-homing heads (seeker) "Sokol-V" as part of the 9K119 Refleks guided weapon system. This was reported by military analyst Evgeny Damantsev.

Specialists of JSC "Design Bureau of Precision Engineering named after A.E. Nudelman" since 2019 have conducted a series of field tests of 25 experienced prototypes of the "Sokol-V" missile in a standard combat modification (with warheads and optoelectronic seekers), 46 missiles in a modification with strapdown inertial navigation systems (INS), and 46 in a practical modification with seekers and without warheads.

The tests were conducted from the 2A46M-5 and 2A46M-4 smoothbore guns of T-90A/M and T-80BVM tanks using Sosna-U multi-channel gunner sights.

Combined guidance systems based on television-thermal imaging seekers with strapdown INS and a semi-automatic laser beam channel demonstrated acceptable efficiency.

ZALA 421-16E and S350M "Supercam" optoelectronic reconnaissance drones provide the "Sokol-V" missile with the ability to engage from closed firing positions on a "fire-and-forget" principle. The missile's equipment is implemented on a modular principle with the possibility of integrating shrapnel and thermobaric, as well as cumulative warheads. The former, in conjunction with radar or laser fuses, are capable of hitting attack helicopters or small UAVs.

When firing in difficult meteorological conditions and when the enemy is jamming in the L-band, strapdown INS, as well as receivers of the radio command control line, will make a huge contribution to correcting missile trajectories to the area of effective use of the IIR seeker.
Evgeny Damantsev, military analyst

The possible effective range of the "Sokol-V" missiles is about 10 - 12 km, the maximum flight speed is 500 - 550 m/s, the average trajectory speed is 350 - 400 m/s, which is comparable to the Ataka-V and Vikhr-1 ATGM.

Earlier, journalists of the Army Recognition publication noted that the T-90M tanks have new protection against drones. Instead of "barbecue grills", armor plates covering it are installed on the turret of the armored vehicle.
