The Yaroslavl Motor Plant "Avtodizel" presented its new 12-cylinder V-shaped diesel engine YMZ-855. The development, which was presented at the Moscow International Commercial Vehicle and Technology Exhibition ComVex 2024, has a service life of up to 50,000 hours. The heavy industrial engine from YMZ can be useful in the Russian gas production and railway industries, in shipbuilding and mechanical engineering.
In comparison with its predecessors, the YMZ-855 has increased power characteristics. Its maximum power has been increased by more than a quarter. The engine features:
- cylinder size – 140x140 mm;
- working volume – 25.9 l;
- rated power – 1054 hp;
- maximum torque – 4300 Nm;
- oil pump with increased capacity;
- water pump with increased capacity in the main circuit cooling system;
- compression ratio increased from 15.2 to 16 to improve efficiency;
- new design turbocharger with a higher pressure increase ratio;
- optimization of cooling system channels in the cylinder block.
The YMZ-855 engine is equipped with a modern Common Rail fuel injection system. The parameters of the fuel supply process (amount of fuel supplied, injection advance angle, and injection pressure) are controlled by a microprocessor control system based on readings from sensors that characterize the engine's operating mode and conditions. As a result, the YMZ-855 engine has good starting properties, minimal fuel consumption, low noise levels, and low emissions of harmful substances with exhaust gases.
It is assumed that YMZ-855 will be installed on mining dump trucks, industrial tractors, bulldozers, modern diesel generator sets, pumping units, and ships. Manufacturers of BelAZ mining trucks have already expressed interest in the engines.
