Russia has begun developing a new state armament program for a ten-year term. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
He clarified that the work is being carried out in cooperation with the Military-Industrial Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Defense. The main parameters and appearance of the program are currently being formed.
The First Deputy Prime Minister added that the current state armament program will be completed by next year.
The State Armament Program is a medium-term planning document for the technical re-equipment of the Russian Armed Forces. It defines a set of measures balanced by tasks, goals, resources, customers, and deadlines for the creation and maintenance of weapons, military and special equipment in a state of combat readiness. The program is approved personally by the President of the country.
Earlier, the United States suspected Russia of launching a space anti-satellite weapon, but Vladimir Putin reassured them.
