Редкий советский автобус ЗИЛ-158 отреставрировали в Москве

Representative of the Khrushchev Thaw Era to Permanently Reside in the Moscow Transport Museum

The restoration of a Soviet bus with a trailer, the ZIL-158, has been completed in Moscow. It was the last mass-produced model manufactured by the Likhachev plant.

Now, the exhibit will take its place in the Moscow Transport Museum on Novoryazanskaya Street. The restoration of the model has been underway since 2022, with specialists restoring and reinforcing the bus body, as well as performing painting work.

The ZIL-158 bus appeared on the roads of Moscow in the late 50s of the last century, during the Khrushchev Thaw. It was planned as a transitional unit while waiting for the development of a more advanced city bus model, but in the end, the transport became one of the mass-produced models.

Serial production of the ZIL-158 started in August 1957. The main distinguishing feature of the new model was an increased wheelbase compared to the ZIS-155, which allowed for an increase in the bus's capacity.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Russia, a Soviet supertank IS-7 will be restored and put into operation.
