By 2026, the experiment on unmanned cargo transportation in Russia will be expanded to the Moscow Ring Road and M-12 Vostok highways. This was announced at the conference "Artificial Intelligence in the Road Industry" in Moscow by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bakanov.
We plan to expand the geography of the experiment to M-12 and the Moscow Ring Road by 2026. At the same time, the total number of unmanned trucks will increase to 93.
In the summer of 2023, on the M-11 Neva highway, a test run of unmanned SberAvtotech and KAMAZ trucks was launched to transport commercial goods. During this time, they traveled about two million kilometers and transported about 220 thousand cubic meters of cargo.
Bakanov specified that currently 14 unmanned vehicles are involved in cargo transportation on the highways, eight from SberAvtotech and six from KamAZ. By the end of this year, their number will increase to 43.
