The construction of the Russian NICA collider at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics named after V. I. Veksler and A. M. Baldin of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna will be completed in 2024. This is a cyclic accelerator for colliding heavy ions and protons. One of the main elements of the collider is superconducting magnets for focusing and holding particles. The construction of the collider has been underway since 2013.

Putin was in China on a working visit on May 16-17. At the EXPO exhibition in Harbin, he was shown advanced butterfly drones.
