State Duma deputies have proposed banning taxi fleets from using cars assembled outside of Russia. The bill on introducing a minimum mandatory level of localization for vehicles used for passenger transportation was considered in the lower house of parliament in the first reading. The development of the document was supported by domestic car manufacturers, who advocate for easing competition in the market.

He explained that the authors of the bill want to move away from the concept of «level of localization of vehicles». The fact is that it is not used in legal legislative acts.
Note that even if the law on the localization of taxis is adopted, there will still be many Chinese cars in taxi fleets. After all, most of the new cars assembled in Russia have their roots in China.
It is worth recalling that the point system for calculating the level of localization of cars was introduced in Russia in 2019. Cars must be assembled in Russia from components produced in the country. The more operations are carried out at Russian enterprises, the higher the level of localization.
