The fight against electric scooter enthusiasts continues on a new level. While the State Duma is considering a new bill on imposing fines for users of personal mobility devices (PMD), kicksharing services have begun to independently punish their clients with fines.
For many, this came as an unpleasant surprise, because not all users of individual transport read and remember the terms of the contract offer.
Thousands of fines have been paid since the beginning of the year. For example, MTS "Urent" alone issued more than 20 thousand fines throughout the country this year, 14.5 thousand of which were in Moscow.
Whoosh users paid 1.3 thousand fines for improper parking and another 800 for riding together, and this is only in the capital. In addition, the company blocked 6 thousand accounts for participating in accidents and causing harm to the health of third parties.
Most often, violators were fined for unwillingness to dismount at a crossing, riding together and improper parking. In the latter case, all kicksharing services deduct 500 rubles from their clients' accounts. Upon repeated violation, MTS Urent doubles the fine rate.
If scooter riders decide to ride together on one vehicle, they will have to pay 1 thousand rubles to Yandex. The fine for MTS Urent and Whoosh is 800 rubles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that MTS Urent, Yandex and Whoosh will come up with a unified system for fining all violators.
