A new design of a fan-type ammunition feeding device has been developed for the Russian armored vehicle "Typhoon-VDV." The Russian Federation owns the patent for the development, with the Ministry of Defense acting on behalf of the state.
According to IA "TASS", which has a copy of the patent for the design, it eliminates jamming of the cartridge belt in the BM30-V and BM30-DT combat module. During testing, the model of the fan-type ammunition feeding device allowed to "ensure reliable uninterrupted supply of ammunition to the rapid-firing automatic cannon" and "eliminate jamming of the cartridge belt with cartridges at various elevation angles of the automatic cannon".
The updated design will enhance its capabilities, although it is already unparalleled. "Typhoon-VDV" is currently the only MRAP class armored vehicle (wheeled armored vehicles with enhanced mine protection) in the world capable of being parachuted and engaging in combat.
Earlier it became known that a new Russian complex for combating UAVs is planned to be created on the basis of the armored vehicle "Typhoon-VDV."
