Rostekhnadzor has authorized Rosatom to produce nuclear fuel for the innovative BREST-OD-300 reactor. This refers to a license to operate the nuclear installation of the dense fuel fabrication/refabrication module. This was reported by the press service of JSC "TVEL".
The module is an object of the pilot demonstration energy complex (cluster of nuclear technologies of the future). Thanks to the license, Rosatom will be able to start a new stage of equipment testing. In particular, to test equipment in the areas of manufacturing BREST-OD-300 fuel assemblies using depleted uranium.
BREST-OD-300 is a prototype of reactors for future nuclear power plants. They are expected to be more economical and safe. A number of experts classify them as renewable energy sources.
