"Motor oils will become more expensive": Japan has expanded sanctions against Russia

From April 17, 164 categories of goods were banned for import into Russia

The Ministry of Economy of Japan has expanded the list of goods prohibited for export to Russia. It added 164 categories, including motor oils. The ban will take effect on April 17.

Now it is impossible to import motor oils for cars, as well as batteries (lithium-ion and lithium-hybrid), photo, optical, measuring and high-precision equipment from Japan to Russia. Kayaks, fire boats, yachts, floating cranes and even canoes were banned.

Auto expert Maxim Kadakov spoke about how the sanctions will affect Russian car enthusiasts.

Recall that these are not the first restrictions related to automotive equipment that the Japanese authorities have imposed against Russia. In 2022, Japan banned the sending of trucks, dump trucks and bulldozers.

The Japanese felt this was not enough, and in August 2023, a ban on the export of cars with engines larger than 1.9 liters, with hybrid power plants, came into force. Foreign experts noted that vehicles from China and South Korea will replace the vehicles banned from delivery in the Russian market.
