Russians are prohibited from placing advertising on the resources of persons recognized by the Ministry of Justice as foreign agents. The law, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, came into force on March 22.
The ban applies to advertising on websites, blogs and social networks. The restrictions also apply to Telegram channels and YouTube.
Amount of fines:
- For individuals — from 2,000 rubles to 2,500 rubles.
- For individual entrepreneurs — from 4,000 rubles to 20,000 rubles.
- For small businesses — from 50,000 rubles to 250,000 rubles.
- For medium and large businesses — from 100,000 rubles to 500,000 rubles.
Punishment of foreign agents for advertising
If Russians are punished with fines, then the foreign agents themselves face criminal liability for advertising. For failure to comply with the requirements of the law, they may be sentenced to two years. The list of foreign agents, which includes almost 800 people and organizations, is presented on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
