Tinkoff and Rosbank May Become One Banking Group

The merger is explained by the convenience for millions of customers, bank shareholders and the regulator

One of the largest private investment companies in Russia, Interros, has announced its support for the merger of two large banks, in which it is one of the main major shareholders, into one group. These are Tinkoff Bank and Rosbank.

As Vladimir Potanin, President of Interros, explained in the company's Telegram channel, in his opinion, the creation of a unified structure "from the point of view of its product line, ease of use, as well as growth in value and financial stability, fully meets the interests of customers, shareholders and the regulator."

The integration of banks will take place on the basis of a fair market valuation, while Tinkoff will be valued with an adequate premium to the market. The remaining transactions within this placement will also be carried out in compliance with market principles.
Currently, all parameters of the future banking group are only being discussed, but it is already possible to say that during the integration we will preserve all the best that is in both Rosbank and Tinkoff Bank, which will be able to enrich each other with their advantages, experience and technologies.
This is the very situation when one plus one will give more than two. Both banks will retain their licenses, brands, teams and high standards of customer service. At the same time, Rosbank's key competencies in working with corporate and private clients, international banking experience and the highest reliability rating among Russian banks are complementary to what Tinkoff currently has.
And vice versa, Tinkoff Bank's advanced progressive developments, its focus on innovation, the second largest base of retail customers will complement Rosbank's profile, including in terms of technology and IT import substitution.

President of Interros Vladimir Potanin

Potanin emphasized that he believes that the combination of the competencies of both banks will lead to improved customer service and an increase in the market value of the new banking group, and due to the growth of capital, it will become more stable and competitive. But the main beneficiaries of the creation of the new banking alliance will still be customers.

However, Tinkoff is also establishing ties with other major colleagues. It recently became known that Tinkoff and Sber are working on creating a special channel for the prompt resolution of interbank emergency situations for clients. According to Vedomosti, citing representatives of both banks, the new service will allow solving hundreds of thousands of client issues per month for billions of rubles.

To begin with, you can contact the support service of the unified interbank channel for the most popular and painful issues for clients. For example, an accidental transfer to the wrong person, blocking suspicious accounts that may be related to fraud and returning funds that were sent to them, or support in a situation where a banking transaction was carried out without the client's consent.

If the pilot is positive, then the banks will increase cooperation in this part, and. possibly, other Russian banks will want to join them with similar cooperation.
