Scientists in Arkhangelsk Used Pig Heart to Create a Cardio Simulator

The simulator is needed to train young cardiac surgeons

Cardiac surgeon Roman Sorokin from Arkhangelsk invented a cardio simulator that is as close as possible to the human heart. It will help in the training of young specialists in the field of cardiovascular surgery.

The simulator is not a synthetic simulator, but a real pig heart. A pump pumps water through it, which will later be replaced with a technical fluid with physical properties similar to blood

Filled with water, the chambers of the heart begin to pulsate. Therefore, the device resembles a real human heart, the cardiac surgeon explained.

According to Sorokin, the simulator can be used to train cardiovascular surgeons. This will help in developing special skills and obtaining accreditation, he concluded.
