Will Paper Boarding Passes Remain Only in Collections?: Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport Simplify Ticket Reporting Procedure

From March 1, 2024, boarding passes no longer need to be submitted to the accounting department for reporting

Since March 2024, Russia has abolished the requirement to present a paper boarding pass. Now you can use the electronic version. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance of Russia have removed all barriers to the mass introduction of this technology.

From March 1, 2024, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance of Russia simplified the procedure for reporting expenses on the purchase of air tickets. Now, instead of a paper boarding pass, you can use the electronic version. This decision improves conditions for passengers — there is no need to additionally print boarding passes or wait in line for registration if an electronic boarding pass has been generated in advance, and reduces the paper load on airlines.

According to clarifications from the Ministry of Finance of Russia, if an air ticket was purchased in electronic form, then to confirm the costs of its purchase, you can use the itinerary receipt of the electronic air ticket, which indicates the cost of the flight. This step helps to simplify accounting and makes the process more transparent and efficient.

Airlines also actively support the new rules. Leading air carriers in the country, such as PJSC "Aeroflot", JSC AK "Siberia", OJSC AK "Ural Airlines", have already confirmed their readiness to use electronic boarding passes.

The Ministry of Transport of Russia plans to approve a standard form of electronic boarding pass for all airlines in the near future, which will further facilitate the procedure for using the transport document.
