The development of the first domestic vessel with hydrogen fuel cells continues at the Zelenodolsk Shipyard named after A.M. Gorky in Tatarstan. The transport vessel is designed to carry up to 10 passengers on inland waterways. Technical supervision of the work is carried out by specialists from the Upper Volga branch of the «Russian Classification Society». According to Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, «such a vessel could become an indispensable element of the tourism ecosystem of any city.»
According to information published by the «Russian Classification Society», the vessel of project 00393 «Ecobalt» will have the following characteristics:
- Maximum length — 14.9 meters
- Maximum width — 3.20 meters
- Speed on calm water — up to 12.2 km/h
- Trip duration — 5 hours
- Crew — 2 people
- Maximum draft of the vessel is 0.53 meters
- Board height at the midship section — 1 meter
The prototype is being developed by the Zelenodolsk Shipyard named after Gorky and the Krylov State Scientific Center.
The vessel was laid down in Tatarstan on February 28 of last year. The head of the region, Rustam Minnikhanov, stated that the ship would open a new page in the history of shipping and expand the range of floating vehicles on alternative fuels.
As www1.ru wrote earlier, the vessel is based on project 00393. Its development was carried out by the Central Design Bureau «Baltsudoproekt». Its price may be 634 million rubles. Hydrogen propulsion attracts not only shipbuilders, but also railway workers. Recently, www1.ru reported on the development of a hydrogen train.
