Specialists from the Khrulyov Military Academy of Logistics have received a patent for a remotely controlled combat module with an AGS-17 grenade launcher for robotic platforms. This is confirmed by materials published on the FIPS website.
Combat module composition:
- Lightly armored vehicle with engine
- Transmission
- Chassis with propulsion unit
- Armament
- Control equipment
The 30 mm AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher is mounted on the upper part of the combat module. It was developed in Soviet times by engineers at OKB-16.
The grenade launcher is designed to engage enemy manpower and fire assets located in open areas or in gullies and ravines. The AGS-17 was adopted into service in 1971. It used a tripod mount and an optical sight for long-range firing.
