Yandex ID has expanded its passwordless authorization capabilities. Now, access to the platform's services and external sites can be obtained using a fingerprint or biometric data (face), according to the press service of the Russian IT giant.
The new function is supported by the WebAuthn web standard, which prevents the reproduction or forgery of the key to enter the system. Even Yandex ID does not have biometric data or a copy of the fingerprint - all of this is stored on the client's smartphone/tablet/smartwatch.
How to enable the function:
- Log in to your Yandex ID personal account
- Find the section "Face or Fingerprint Login"
- Create a key for the device
Up to 10 keys for different devices can be linked to one account.
Earlier, Yandex launched a number identification function for WhatsApp and Viber. The service is aimed at combating fraudsters who often impersonate financial organizations.
