Russian engineers have modernized the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs), now they can hit all types of targets, including ATACMS ballistic missiles, «Tochka-U» and projectiles fired from HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). The effectiveness of the complex has been proven in combat.
According to the head of the air defense system calculation with the call sign Eighteenth, «Buk-M3» quickly detects a maneuvering target in the air and hits it. Another serviceman with the call sign Tourist added that the complex automatically recognizes the target and captures it. The operator, who receives this information, only has to make a decision on striking.
Technical characteristics and features of the Buk-M3 air defense system:
- intercepts cruise missiles and aerodynamic targets
- there are 12 missiles on the launcher
- there are 6 missiles on the self-propelled firing unit
