Россияне с 2025 года смогут запретить выдавать себе кредиты

The State Duma has adopted a law on self-imposed credit ban to protect against fraudsters

Deputies of the lower house of parliament have adopted a bill allowing Russians to set a self-ban on issuing loans. The relevant information is confirmed by materials from the database.

The law will come into force on March 1, 2024, but the ban can only be imposed after the automated information system is finalized (no later than September 1, 2025).

You can apply for a ban with an TIN in two ways:

  • Submit an application through the MFC to qualified credit bureaus
  • Send an application through the State Services

It is known that information about the ban will be included in the credit history of a Russian citizen on the same day if the corresponding application is received by the bureau before 22:00. It will take effect on the second day after publication in the credit history. At the same time, the restriction will not apply to loans secured by a mortgage or a car.

The State Duma emphasized that the bill is designed to limit the risks of fraud with confidential data of Russians. This will help to avoid situations when loans are taken out on citizens without their knowledge.
