The first unique truck cranes designed for moving dangerous goods, including nuclear fuel and radiation sources, have arrived at the Siberian Chemical Combine in the city of Seversk.
Domestically produced truck cranes were needed due to changes in the Federal norms and rules in the field of atomic energy use. They were first developed in the industry in Russia and approved at the State Specialized Design Institute, a subsidiary of Rosatom's fuel company TVEL, SHK, together with Atomspectrans. Only one Galich truck crane plant was able to fulfill the requirements of the technical task for the whole of Russia.
The maximum lifting capacity of the special truck crane is 50 tons, and the boom length is 25 meters. The manufacturing plant has completely replaced the main components of the crane installation with domestic counterparts. The equipment, which meets all the requirements of federal norms, will be used for loading and unloading operations with radioactive substances at the sites of JSC "SHK". For example, each winch of the lifting mechanism has two brakes, and the cranes themselves are equipped with operating parameter recorders. In the event of an unforeseen situation, an emergency shutdown of the lifting mechanism or the entire crane will occur.
Such cranes for safe transportation in the nuclear industry will appear at all sites of the Rosatom State Corporation. The first order for them has already been placed by three TVEL enterprises; these cranes will be manufactured in 2024-2025.
