Orion Upper Stage Testing Begins at Vostochny Cosmodrome

It will soon be integrated into the Angara-A5 rocket assembly

Comprehensive testing of the Orion upper stage, manufactured by RSC Energia, is underway at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

According to Roscosmos State Corporation, it will undergo pneumatic and electrical tests. Then, Orion will be filled with fuel and compressed gases. The next step will be the integration of Orion into the space head section for general assembly with the Angara-A5 rocket. Then, comprehensive tests with the upper stage will be carried out to test the systems before the first launch.

The Russian heavy rocket Angara-A5 is also currently preparing for its first launch from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. It is scheduled for the first ten days of April. This will be the first launch of a heavy carrier rocket from this cosmodrome in its history.
