Russian military turned Chinese Desertcross 1000-3 ATVs into smoke machines

After transformation and receiving new protection against FVP drone strikes, they can cover columns of equipment

Servicemen of one of the Russian radiation, chemical and biological protection companies came up with a way to convert Chinese Desertcross 1000-3 ATVs into smoke machines. The ATVs, which received a light upgrade and new protection against FVP drone strikes in the form of special nets, surpass serial smoke machines in terms of modest dimensions, high cross-country ability and maneuverability.

Unified UDSH smoke bombs are attached to the vehicles, the electric ignition of which occurs through a remote control. They create an impenetrable cloud that makes it difficult for the enemy to observe both from the ground and from the air with drones. Representatives of the RCBZ troops also modified Kalashnikov assault rifles - to fire smoke bombs.

The cloud created in this way can hide the movement of manpower or columns of equipment or positions from enemy surveillance equipment, including drones.

The AODES Desertcross 1000-3 ATV is manufactured by the Chinese company Shandong Odes Industry. It is positioned as a vehicle for outdoor activities and tourism, employees of large farms and forestry enterprises. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense ordered a number of its copies for the Russian military.

As is known from open sources, the manufacturers supplemented such cars with a front bumper with an amplifier and rubber fenders, the possibility of installing a soft-type cab and a heater. Now they serve, in particular, in the Southern Military District.

The ATV, adapted to Russian requirements, recently appeared on special stands of the Ministry of Defense, where it was personally shown to President Vladimir Putin.
