The situation is being corrected, the reason is a problem with disabling DNSSEC - the protocol

Russians faced a global failure of Runet - on the evening of Tuesday, January 30, dozens of sites and applications across the country in the .RU/РФ domain zone stopped working. Everything went down: from private services and applications - "Citydrive", "Sberbank", "Tinkoff" and others - to the websites of media, government bodies and even "Gosuslugi".

The failure affected resources with the DNSSEC protocol

The head of the ANO "COORDINATION CENTER OF THE NATIONAL DOMAIN OF THE INTERNET NETWORK", which deals with the .RU/РФ domains, Andrey Vorobyov, in response to a call from Fontanka.ru, said that he "absolutely cannot talk right now", but noted that they are trying to fix the situation.

We are working on solving a technical problem.

Roskomnadzor told Rossiyskaya Gazeta that services using the National Domain Name System (NSDI) of the Central Management Authority are operating normally. And they advised contacting the Internet Technical Center on issues of managing the .ru domain zone.

Providers and owners of autonomous systems using the resolving of the National Domain Name System (NSDI) of the Central Management Authority are operating normally. A corresponding recommendation has been sent by the Central Management Authority to the owners of all autonomous systems in the .ru zone.

The exact causes of the failures are still unknown. According to experts, a possible reason is the disabling of DNSsec - a protocol that is responsible for the secure redirection of addresses upon request.

This is a technology that protects against the substitution of a response from a DNS server by an attacker and uses digital signatures of domain zones. It protects against IP address substitution.

In other words, it protects any site from cyberattacks, and the user from going to a fraudulent site instead of the original site.

Representatives of those companies that do not use DNSsec stood firm - in particular, mobile Internet communication was preserved by the operator Tele2. MTS and Megafon, according to the Downradar website, are experiencing minor glitches, and Beeline told RIA Novosti that it is operating normally. Mobile operators have not yet given an official comment.
