Financial Messaging System Attracts Interest from 20 Countries Worldwide

The Central Bank has connected 159 foreign participants from 20 countries to the Russian analogue of the international payment system SWIFT, according to the regulator's head, Elvira Nabiullina.

According to her, the System for Transfer of Financial Messages (SPFS), created in 2014, has attracted the interest of many states. In particular, the Central Bank is in negotiations with BRICS members on the integration of payment infrastructures.

For the current year, the regulator has set a goal to continue developing the payment system in foreign markets. In addition, the issue of mutual settlements in the national currencies of the BRICS countries is being worked out.

It was previously reported that transfers via the Faster Payments System (FPS) have become available from Russia to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
